Web Development Case Study - Green Circle Salons
Green Circle Salons started as a solution to mitigate the amount of waste that is generated by the beauty industry. Starting with hair and beauty salons, the business has grown to support diverting waste for a wide range of clients and businesses. Through their efforts in receiving and recycling SUI, hair, hair color, papers, plastics, metals & more they have been able to divert over 10 million pounds of waste from landfills to date. Their digital footprint include more than just a website, as the primary focus of the business is a fully custom user portal to manage their clients and communications.

Challenge
In addition to requiring a modern website that promotes their initiatives, Green Circle Salons required a custom user portal to manage their day to day efforts. Green Circle was looking for a solution to easily manage a growing directory of clients (“waste warriors”) and support their efforts collaborating with Green Circle to divert their waste output. In order to introduce a user-friendly way for waste warriors to join the cause, manage their recycling, request new materials and resources, and send waste back to the Green Circle recycling facilities they required a sophisticated one-stop user portal for their clients to use.
Our Solution
Simplistics works with Green Circle in ongoing projects to improve their waste warrior’s experiences through their client portal. In addition to developing their website, Simplistics supported the design, development and continuous improvement of the waste warrior portal. The custom user portal that each user receives offers a wide range of services including requesting new materials from Green Circle, scheduling UPS pickups, label generation & returns to their region’s specified Green Circle facility, purchasing marketing materials and additional resources from a WooCommerce platform, managing their account and payment information, and much more. The portal has recently introduced an interface to provide customers with real-time data showing how many pounds of waste their business has diverted to-date. The user portal integrates with third party systems like Hubspot as a CRM, UPS to manage pickups and display diverted waste data, Quickbooks Online as an accounting interface, and Stripe as a payment gateway.
